The Memphis Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is preparing a study to extend Houston Levee Road south from Shelby Drive to a proposed intersection with Goodman Road. This study is being performed in cooperation with DeSoto County, Shelby County, the Town of Collierville, and the City of Olive Branch.

The TIP documents how federal funds will be expended on highway and public transportation improvements within the urban area.

The purpose of Phase I of the Smart Growth Initiative is to present to the County Commission a series of policies and programs that can be started within a reasonable timeframe to begin improving the physical, social and economic conditions in all of Shelby County. Aug 25, 2003 - New Permit Fee Supports Down Payment Assistance Program
As of Friday, August 22, 2003, all permits issued by the Shelby County Office of Code Enforcement include a $1 surcharge on residential permits and a $5 surcharge on all commercial permits. These fees will help fund the new Down Payment Assistance Program (DPA) that will begin in late September, 2003. The new program will aid qualified, low to moderate income homebuyers in Shelby County with a loan for up to $3,500 in closing cost and down payment assistance on new homes valued below $150,000
